As luck would have it, he was playing a couple of free shows during SXSW. Once I found out he was going to be in town, I decided to forego bed rest (following the spinal tap) and embark on my first SXSW experience. C-Rat and I enjoyed his first show so much that we saw him again later that same day.
His new album came out a few months ago and with that, a tour. I was beyond excited to see on his website that he would be making a stop in Austin, so of course I had to buy a ticket.
And his show did not disappoint! My favorite was his cover of La Bamba which led to my tweet "Y'ALL! @mattnathanson sang La Bamba & rocked my mother effing South Texas, pseudo-Mexican socks off!!" I didn't take any pictures or videos, instead choosing to enjoy the show without distractions. Well, I say without distractions yet there was a douchebag standing next to me who wanted to talk to his friends the entire show. Jerk face. But anywho, his show was great. Fun times were had.
