Set an alarm for five minutes and capture the things you most want to remember about 2010.

This is going to call for a thought cloud. I will try to keep them in order as much as possible.

drama surrounding the National Championship game ~ the phone call (and subsequent text message) that ended a friendship ~ Spazmatics joint outing with friends and coworker friends (aka friends) ~ brother's birthday party was a chance to see all my family ~ Julia's wedding festivities (best party of 2010) ~ Trudy's Trifecta (not just for the drinking, but for the serious conversations that happened as a result of too many martinis) ~ the year I started drinking beer ~ running the Capitol 10K ~ silent treatment I have imposed on a family member (going on 8 months now) ~ the phone call from my mom to tell me my stepdad was in the hospital ~ running the Longhorn Run 10K ~ sweet tea and biscuits and gravy while in South Carolina ~ exploring Minneapolis ~ New York boy ~ kidney infection ~ girls weekend with Julia and Caitlin ~ the ridiculous amount of time spent editing the Recognition Report ~ my five use 'em or lose 'em vacation days spent in Corpus (the longest I've ever been home since the summer after freshman year) ~ remembering Gigi one year later ~ dancing with a rainstick at C-Rat's birthday party ~ seeing Morgan in Houston for the first time in 13 years ~ the amazing birthday gifts from my coworkers ~ Margarita Sundays ~ tequila ~ surprise visits and text messages ~ rediscovering my love of baking after making snickerdoodle cupcakes and pumpkin cupcakes with cinnamon brown sugar buttercream frosting ~ my trip to Philly, New Jersey, New York, Harrisburg (I still need to write an entry about this) ~ seeing fall colors for the first time ~ stepping out of the subway stairwell right into Times Square and being in awe ~ Penn State game to see JoePa win his 400th game ~ the abrupt and slightly awkward turtle ending to what I thought was a budding friendship ~ unbearable migraines ~ the year the UT football dynasty came tumbling down

Phew... I barely squeezed that out in five minutes!

There is a reason I want to remember each of these things. Yes, my thought cloud is a mix of good and bad memories. But I wouldn't have it any other way; it's a true reflection of the last 12 months. To be honest, 2010 was a shitty year, both personally and professionally. There were quite a few bright spots and highlights, but for the most part I hated this year.
