I'm Baaaaaaaaack!

Sort of... I'm sort of back. And wtf is this new blogger template?! Gone for four months and now I can't even operate this dang thing.

Anywho... I'm sorry to my handful of readers that I went off the map for so long. Many of you follow me on twitter or are my close friends and know that it's been the same old song and dance routine - workity work work.

It has been an incredibly busy and exhausting few months. Since my last update, I'm happy to report that our department hired two new employees - the first was hired in early March and took over 1/4 of what I was working on, and the second was hired at the beginning of June and just recently took over about 3/4 of what I was working on. The past two weeks, while still busy, have been a nice change of pace. Gone are the 15 hour work days, the 70 hour work weeks... for now. My boss said that in my new role I will only be working 60 hours a week. I wish that I could say she was joking, but she might just be right.

You may have caught the words "my new role." I do in fact have a new position at work - I'm not entirely sure if it's a promotion or just change in title... a little of both, if that's possible. It was extremely bittersweet last Monday to pass the torch to the new scholarship coordinator. I worked on these projects, with these volunteers, for 4.5 years... it's hard to let that go. But it's best for me professionally, and my new position is 100% what I've been wanting to do. Well, I think it is. I don't really have a job description yet; my boss is letting me create what I want it to be, which is exciting but a little intimidating at the same time.

I have also been elected to serve as the chair of the young alumni committee for the Austin Chapter this year. This is a committee that I have been on the last two years in a volunteer capacity, not as a staff member. I'm excited to take on a leadership role and also serve on the chapter board.

So yeah, my year is looking to be busy busy. On top of that, there are some new happenings in my life, to be discussed in an upcoming entry.

But for now, I just wanted to check in, let you know I'm alive (barely!), and that hopefully I will be back to updating a little regularly. I already have my post for tomorrow scheduled, so when you see it posted, don't think that I'm hanging out at work, updating my blog. Nope... I'm not that kinda girl.

Hasta la pasta!
