Birthday Fun

It's been a little over a week since my birthday. I must say, it was definitely one of the most memorable birthdays I've had!

I was in Dallas for OU Weekend festivities. The game was ridiculous... the Fletcher's corny dog was delicious... and the rest of the night was amazeballs. A casual dinner at Mattito's followed by some singing, dancing and drinking with great friends at Sherlock's. It was the perfect amount of craziness for my liking. I would like to thank C-Rat and Denise for the fun times!

BIRTHDAY PRESENTS
Not going to lie... I was a bit spoiled this year. I'm truly grateful for my gifts. My mom is pretty amazeballs.

The first gift was new bedding. I've been wanting new bedding for some time now, but I'm super picky and don't make hasty decisions. I painted the wall behind my bed burnt orange last year, so I needed something that matched. And when I saw it, I just new. I bought sheets, a coverlet (not a quilt/not a blanket/in between), duvet cover, down comforter, Euro sham pillows, pillows for decorative pillowcases, pillows to sleep on, and an accent pillow. I love the way my room looks now.

As some of you know, my KitchenAid mixer broke this summer. My mom came to Austin to pick up my dog before OU Weekend. When she said that my gift was outside, I was completely not expecting to see this...

I mean, seriously... the PROFESSIONAL SERIES!! You should see the size of the whisk, paddle attachment and dough hook. Holy schmols!

While at the State Fair, I lost my Coach sunglasses... in the effing porta pottie! I was so mad. Those were my first pair of pricey sunglasses and were a treat to myself during a rough time earlier this spring. I didn't even really have to pay for them as I received a good chunk of money from dog sitting for a coworker a month prior. But tipsy me walked into a porta pottie with the sunglasses attached to my shirt and walked out with them nowhere on my body. I didn't want to go back in and look... was afraid of what I might see. But anywho, my aunt gave me a good chunk of money for my birthday, so today I went a bought a pair of Ray Ban aviators that I've had my eye on (and were the original glasses I wanted instead of the Coach pair but was talked into the Coach pair by the sales lady).

*****
I decided for my birthday that I wanted it be a year of newness. I have decided to do/try something new every week this year. When it is all said and done, I will have done 52 (or more) new things.

I was going to create a list of 52 things, but C-Rat is wise and convinced me to make a list of things that I know without a doubt I want to do this year - but don't make a list of 52 things so as not to limit myself.

There is not a set schedule of "this week I'm going to do this, next week I'm going to do that"... it's all pretty spur of the moment. EXCEPTION - if there is an event or some sort of prior planning that needs to be done and the new thing for that particular week is scheduled in advance.

I completed a few new things the very first weekend, and will update soon. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures - which makes that entry a little boring. But I hope to have photos/videos of future new things.

And for quick clarification - the year of newness isn't meant to try outlandish things. It's merely to do things that maybe I've wanted to do in the past but never did or to try something new when the opportunity presents itself. So I'm not looking for crazy suggestions from friends. Some things on my list (while they may be boring to you, they are things I want):
  • carve a pumpkin
  • get a manicure/pedicure
  • watch a sunset/sunrise at Mt. Bonnell
  • go to Barton Springs Pool
  • skydive
There are others on my list, but my mind is going blank. But you get the picture.
