Good Riddance, 2010!

It's no secret that 2010 was not my favorite year. As if it didn't suck enough, it came to a crashing close right before Christmas. I won't go into detail because it's a personal matter, but I ended up spending the holidays alone in Austin.

One would think that after having such a craptastic year, I would want to party hard to usher in the new year. And yet, I had absolutely no desire to do anything. Well, that's not true. I wanted to do something, but I wasn't sure what. All I knew was that I didn't want to get dressed up and go downtown. I didn't want to spend a lot of money. I just wanted to hang out with friends, have some drinks, and just enjoy the night. I think there's too much pressure surrounding New Year's Eve. Maybe it's me getting older, but I just didn't want to put any energy into the night.

Good thing BJ and Derek felt the same way. So once BJ got done working a casino party at the old folks home, the three of us went to the nearly empty Trudy's North location. I couldn't think of a better way to usher in the new year than with chips and queso and Mexican martinis. It ended up being one of my favorite NYE celebrations!

There were some quotables from the night, most of which I tweeted. For those who don't follow my tweets, here's a sampling:

Brian: "She was down for a threesome. Kristy, you're the only one who has a problem with it."
Derek: "Stop being such a prude!"

Brian: "Oh, it looks like bitchy Kristy is back!"
Derek: "Was she ever gone?"

Me: "I'm going to start being nicer this year."
Brian: "Um, yeah..."
Derek (looking at his watch): "It's 12:06 now; let's see how long this lasts..."
Me: (some comment I can't remember now... it didn't fit in the tweet)
Derek: "Oh, 30 seconds!"

Me: "Life is just a slow death."
Brian: "Wow, way to pep up 2011!"

Derek: "They didn't have sex, just hooked up."
Brian: "And then they made urine angels."
Me: "That's how all good relationships start."

Text conversation with my best friend regarding me
Julia: "I'm picky about who she dates."
Derek: "Where were you during college?!"
Julia: "That was before I noticed her poor choices."

Because I can be vain at times, I had to snap some pictures of my hair. I was having a pretty darn good hair day, if I may say so.

Looking towards the new year, I'm still figuring out my goals for 2011. I don't like the word "resolutions." Hopefully I'll have a list put together in the next couple of days, and then I will share it... that way I can be held accountable.

  1. Your curls hold. Thus, I hate you.

    :) I kid, I couldn't hate you if I tried.

  2. ha, I get lucky on occasion. I've been curling my hair a lot lately; it's getting so long and looks drab when I don't do anything with it.
