Florida Recap

It's been 2 weeks since I returned from Florida, and I'm finally getting a chance to recap the trip. Angel and I decided to fly out of Austin early Thursday morning, meet up with Steven at the festival on Saturday, and then all 3 of us would fly back to Austin early Monday morning so that they could get back to Corpus early in the day.

It was sooo cold and wet when we left Austin. As soon as we landed in Florida, I could feel the heat coming through the window plane next to me, and I was dying to pull off some layers. We picked up our little rental car and headed to our hotel. We grabbed some lunch at a nearby cafe, checked in to the room, put on our swimsuits, and hit up the beach. That night we went downtown and had a delicious dinner at a Cuban restaurant, where we sat outside and listened to some live music that was being played out in the street for some Thursday night festival.

Friday we got up and went to the zoo, as we both love zoos. Unfortunately, the zoo was sparse on most of the big animals, so that was a bummer. And the other animals seemed to be having a lazy day. We made a friend - some big, goose-like animal. I'm sure it wasn't a goose, but I don't remember what the sign said. We put our quarter in one of those machines and got some food to feed the friendly animal. We had fun with him. We hit up the beach afterward and then went to a little restaurant down the road from our hotel for dinner.

Saturday was Locofest. That was...an experience. I'm not much into heavy metal - mainly because I like to hear the lyrics to the songs and find some connection to them. I didn't feel like I got that from any of the bands playing. But it was fun, mostly because I like live music. It was pretty entertaining to see what some of those crazy girls were wearing. I almost wore a pink dress, but Angel had me wear a black skirt and white tank top - good thing because I would have stuck out in the crowd of all black! Next to Steven's band's tent was the only other band from Texas. They happened to be from Temple. I noticed that one of the guys sitting in their tent was 'normal' looking compared to all the other band members at the festival. He was cute, and I thought maybe he helped the band with setup or something - until the band got on stage to perform and he got behind the drums.

Sunday the three of us ventured down to Miami where we met up with one of my good friends from high school, Taren, and her little girl, Kate, in South Beach. Taren and I went off on our own to catch up. That little Kate is super cute! South Beachers are kinda snooty snotty.

Then it was back to Austin. I hardly took any pictures, but here is a little collection:
